I’ve been painting for well over thirty years, having enjoyed successful one-man exhibitions and selling my work through galleries in Staffordshire, where I began my artistic journey. About eight years ago, my family and I moved to Mid-Wales, a region whose scenery reminds me of the Staffordshire Moorlands, where I first learned to sketch and paint in all weather.
In my early years, using a camera taught me to seek out compelling compositions. However, I wanted more than just a good shot. Watercolour allowed me to capture scenes with artistic licence, infusing my work with my feelings about the place. I strive to convey the exhilaration I feel out in a storm, translating that emotion onto paper through watercolour.
I love painting plein air whenever possible. However, when out walking with my wife and our two Spaniels, time is often short. In those moments, I capture scenes with my camera and bring them to life back home on paper.
Although I don’t have a dedicated studio, I’m fortunate to have a very understanding wife who graciously tolerates my artistic mess. Her support enables me to pursue my passion and share my watercolour creations with you.
Thank you for visiting my site and for supporting my work. I’m excited to share my journey and my art with you!
